UKRAINE REMAINS EUROPE'S TOP SECURITY PRIORITY, SAYS KAJA KALLAS

The European Union has reaffirmed its commitment to Ukraine, emphasizing that the country remains a top security priority for Europe. EU High Representative Kaja Kallas made the statement following the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, highlighting ongoing support despite shifting global dynamics.

Kallas noted that the threats Ukraine faces are not isolated; attacks using drones on Kyiv mirror similar threats to countries in the Gulf region. She emphasized the importance of sharing advanced defense strategies, including drone defenses, to protect both Ukraine and allied nations. Coordination with Gulf states and the defense sector was discussed to strengthen regional and international security.

Addressing Russia’s current advantage from high energy prices and the redeployment of air defenses from Ukraine to the Middle East, Kallas warned that Moscow continues to extend the conflict beyond Ukraine’s borders. She cited a recent strike on a Ukrainian hydroelectric plant that risked contaminating Moldova’s water supply, underlining the regional ripple effects of the war. Europe is actively supporting Moldova with equipment aid and satellite intelligence to mitigate such risks.

On energy and sanctions, Kallas stressed that Europe will maintain pressure on Russia by upholding sanctions and moving away from Russian fossil fuels. She stated that reducing Moscow’s financial resources is crucial to ending the war. She also called for stronger enforcement of measures against Russia’s shadow fleet and the adoption of the EU’s 20th sanctions package, describing it as “long overdue.”

The EU has renewed sanctions on over 2,600 individuals linked to undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. In addition, Kallas announced that a Hybrid Rapid Response Team would be deployed to Armenia to ensure security ahead of upcoming elections, reflecting the EU’s commitment to democratic resilience in its neighboring countries.

Kallas concluded that European support for Ukraine will remain unwavering. By combining sanctions, defense coordination, and humanitarian assistance, the EU aims to protect Ukraine while maintaining regional stability. The message is clear: Europe will not let Ukraine’s security needs fade from focus, ensuring that political, military, and economic support continues at the highest level.

This commitment signals a firm stance against aggression and highlights Europe’s proactive role in safeguarding not only Ukraine but also the broader security landscape of the continent.

COUNTRIES THAT WERE ONCE PREDOMINANTLY CHRISTIAN BUT ARE NOW MUSLIM-MAJORITY

INTRODUCTION Across the Middle East, North Africa, and parts of Europe and Central Asia, Christianity once flourished centuries before Islam emerged in the 7th century. Many regions that are today Muslim-majority were originally dominated by Christian populations, churches, monasteries, and theological centers that shaped early Christian doctrine. Over time, political change, military conquest, economic systems, social pressure, migration, and historical conflicts transformed the religious demographics of these regions. This article examines countries and regions that were once largely Christian but are now predominantly Muslim, using historical evidence and demographic estimates. EGYPT Egypt was one of the earliest and most influential centers of Christianity. The Church of Alexandria played a foundational role in Christian theology, and monasticism originated in the Egyptian desert. Before the Arab-Muslim conquest in 640 CE, Egypt was overwhelmingly Christian, with the ma...

TRUMP DEPLOYS NATIONAL GUARD TO CHICAGO AMID RISING UNREST

TRUMP DEPLOYS NATIONAL GUARD TO CHICAGO AMID RISING UNREST In a move that has sparked widespread debate across the United States, President Donald Trump has authorized the deployment of 300 National Guard troops to Chicago. The decision, according to the White House, comes in response to a series of violent protests, vandalism, and reported lawlessness that have gripped parts of the city in recent weeks. Administration officials say the deployment is aimed at restoring peace and protecting federal buildings, businesses, and citizens, but critics argue it marks another instance of federal overreach and political showmanship. The announcement was made late Saturday following a high-level security briefing at the White House. In his statement, Trump emphasized that the federal government “would not sit idly by while chaos and violence undermine public safety.” The president pointed to reports of shootings, looting, and clashes between demonstrators and police as justification ...
