HURRICANE LALA WEAKENS AFTER BATTERING HAWAII AS FLOODING AND POWER OUTAGES CONTINUE
Hawaii is facing a major weather emergency after Hurricane Lala swept past the Big Island, bringing powerful winds, torrential rainfall, flooding and widespread power outages across the state. The storm has since weakened to a tropical storm, but authorities continue to warn residents about dangerous conditions. Lala passed close to Hawaii's Big Island after briefly reaching Category 1 hurricane strength. Although the storm did not make a direct landfall, its effects were severe. Heavy rainfall caused flooding, while strong winds brought down trees and power lines and damaged homes and other infrastructure.
