MIGRANT BOAT SINKS OFF GREECE
A migrant boat sank off the southern Greek island of Gavdos near Crete on Monday, September 14, 2026, leaving at least one person dead and about 25 others missing as rescue teams continued searching the surrounding waters. According to Greek authorities, the vessel was carrying approximately 77 people when it partially sank. Fifty-one people were rescued after nearby vessels responded to the emergency. One person was reportedly found unconscious and later confirmed dead. The exact identities and nationalities of those affected have not yet been fully released.
