NEPAL FLOODS 2026: DEATH TOLL SURPASSES 1,000 AS RESCUE OPERATIONS CONTINUE
September 1, 2026 Nepal is facing one of the most devastating natural disasters in its recent history after catastrophic flooding triggered by a major glacial collapse swept through Himalayan communities, destroying homes, roads, bridges and critical infrastructure. The disaster has also affected areas across the Nepal-China border, while authorities and rescue teams continue searching for thousands of missing people. The disaster began on August 26 after a glacial collapse released enormous quantities of water, ice, rock and debris into downstream areas. The resulting flash floods moved with tremendous force, overwhelming settlements and infrastructure along affected river systems. According to the latest reports, more than 1,000 people have died in Nepal , while thousands remain unaccounted for.
