OPPOSITION UNITY GROWS AHEAD OF 2027
Efforts to unite Nigeria’s opposition parties and prominent political figures are gaining renewed attention as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue. Political strategist Salihu Lukman says discussions are ongoing to bring major opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, together ahead of the election. The push for opposition cooperation is based largely on concerns that divided opposition votes could strengthen the position of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
