NIGERIA EXTRADITES CHINESE GANG LEADER IN LANDMARK INTERPOL OPERATION

Abuja, August 24, 2025 – In a decisive move against transnational crime, the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with Interpol, has extradited Dai Qisheng, a notorious Chinese gang leader wanted for violent crimes in Guizhou Province, China.

Dai was arrested in Abuja on August 8, 2025, following weeks of coordinated surveillance by the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) Nigeria. After due process, he was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, through a police-to-police cooperation framework involving Interpol NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.

Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, described the operation as a landmark achievement, stressing that “Nigeria will not be a safe haven for fugitives of international crime.”

Interpol officials also confirmed that Dai had fled China in 2024 to evade arrest, but his network was dismantled after intelligence sharing between both countries. His return is expected to aid further investigations into organized criminal groups linked across Asia and Africa.

This operation not only highlights Nigeria’s role in strengthening global law enforcement but also demonstrates the value of international cooperation in tackling organized crime, cyber fraud, and related cross-border offenses.
