Image
Iran has presented the United States with a seven-day roadmap aimed at reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and creating a pathway toward renewed negotiations, as China publicly opposed what it described as unilateral military action during the ongoing conflict. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had delivered the proposal to Washington through Qatar. Under the plan, Iran says normal maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz could be restored within seven days if specified conditions are met. The proposal comes as the Strait remains at the centre of the wider conflict. The waterway between Iran and Oman is one of the world's most important energy routes, carrying a significant share of global oil and gas shipments under normal circumstances. Disruptions have therefore created concerns about energy supplies, transportation costs and international markets. According to reports outlining the proposal, Tehran has linked...

He has maintained that his administration settled its obligations and left substantial funds for the state when he handed over power.
