MANCHESTER CITY BEAT SUNDERLAND 5-3 TO MAINTAIN PERFECT PREMIER LEAGUE START

Manchester City continued their perfect start to the Premier League season with a thrilling 5-3 victory over Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The match produced eight goals as both teams delivered an entertaining attacking performance, but City eventually secured all three points to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table.

City took the lead through Enzo Fernández, who found the net from a free-kick in the opening stages. Sunderland quickly responded through Brian Brobbey, who levelled the score after being played through by his teammates.

Rayan Cherki restored City's lead before Brobbey scored again to make it 2-2. The fast-paced first half continued with Antoine Semenyo putting Manchester City back in front before the break.

City increased their advantage shortly after the restart when Semenyo scored his second goal of the match. Sunderland, however, refused to give up.

Brobbey completed his hat-trick moments later, bringing Sunderland back within one goal and giving the visitors renewed hope of taking something from the match.

Manchester City remained dangerous going forward and continued to create opportunities as Sunderland attempted to find another equaliser.

Erling Haaland eventually ended Sunderland's hopes when he scored City's fifth goal in the 81st minute. The Norwegian striker calmly finished from close range to complete an impressive attacking display by the home side.

The victory means Manchester City have now won all five of their Premier League matches this season. Their perfect record puts them at the top of the early league standings as they continue their pursuit of another domestic title.

For Sunderland, the defeat was disappointing after an impressive attacking performance. Brobbey's three goals were a major highlight, but the team could not prevent City from claiming victory.

The result also demonstrated the attacking quality available to Manchester City. Five different players were involved in the scoring, while the team's ability to respond whenever Sunderland threatened helped them protect their unbeaten record.

Haaland's goal was also significant because Sunderland had been the only Premier League opponent he had previously faced without scoring against. His strike means he has now scored against every Premier League club he has played.

Manchester City will now enter the international break with maximum points from their opening five league matches. Their strong beginning has immediately placed them among the teams attracting attention as the new Premier League campaign develops.

Sunderland, meanwhile, will have an opportunity to regroup during the break and prepare for their next league fixture.

The 5-3 result will be remembered as one of the most entertaining matches of the early Premier League season, with both teams contributing to an eight-goal spectacle at the Etihad Stadium.
